About SHINE

SHINE is an online hub for global knowledge exchange on ending violence against women and girls. It offers the combined power of a virtual exchange hub, convening platform and multilingual tool to inform global policy, programming, and advocacy on ending violence against women and girls. SHINE aims to connect a range of partners and changemakers including civil society and women’s organizations, the United Nations, practitioners, academics and researchers, the private sector, donors, and other partners to co-create, collaborate and amplify knowledge and learning together to end violence against women and girls.

SHINE is a hub that overcomes language barriers through instant translation to provide:

  • A space to share experiences and learn from others working to end violence against women and girls, in 50+ languages.

  • An opportunity to collaborate with different actors and share knowledge to end violence against women and girls with the aim of co-creating and improving resources and tools.

  • Networking and convening options that connect partners across the globe to advocate for and influence programming and policies on ending violence against women and girls.

  • Access to tailored resources, guidance, tools, and support on ending violence against women and girls linked to specific discussions, consultations and other important platforms.

  • Communities of practice and safe spaces to be connected to other partners working on similar topics in the spirit of global solidarity and partnership.

SHINE brings together partners under the Spotlight Initiative and beyond. It aims to SHINE a light on emerging evidence from the Spotlight Initiative and the UN Trust Fund to spark action towards impactful global policy, programming and advocacy on ending violence against women and girls. This includes learning on how to comprehensively address violence against women and girls, and especially highlights civil society’s essential practice-based knowledge. It will enable exchange with other important networks, including over 600 civil society organizations supported by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. Partners are invited to use this hub to network, share resources, exchange knowledge, problem solve and advocate for change together, through targeted consultations and communities of practice.
